Mr. Stahl, do you play any other MMOs for
professional or personal purposes? Is there anything
content- or system-wise from other MMOs that you
have thought about a similar application to STO?
dStahl:
As a passionate fan of MMOs, I’m regularly
playing other games to see what I personally like and
dislike about what other games have done. Mostly
from a personal desire to play for fun, but from a busi-
ness perspective it is always great to see what other
teams are doing to advance gameplay in MMOs.
In addition to all the other Cryptic Games, the other
MMOs currently installed on my home PC include
WOW, SWTOR, LOTRO, MW, FW, and GW2.
Having played most MMOs since the release of Ultima
Online, I think there is a lot of common ground when it
comes to gameplay expectations. Most games follow
similar rules and have similar systems when you break
them down to the core. In many ways, I think MMO
fans are always looking for new ways to enjoy the
basics of MMO gameplay, and most MMO teams are
always adding new ideas to satisfy those desires. STO
will continue to evolve along with the industry and
learn from our competitors and share in the fun that is
MMORPGs.
